  • Multiple choice = when choice is multiple (e.g. 1. 2. 3. etc.) number means "yes", its absence means "no: lack of the feature", unless a note states otherwise
  • Commands menus = are usually indicated between double quotes, specific commands within menus or selection panels are introduced by an arrow, e.g. "Edit" -> Show clipboard, means: "open the Edit menu and select Show clipboard"; also a sequence like Edit | Show clipboard, would mean the same
  • A/D = ascending / descending sort order
  • Administrator = site Administrator(s) for EndNote Web. Administrator(s) with valid ID and pwd given by Thomson Reuters, can have access -not in Roaming mode- to various tools and perform tasks that are not available to individual users: view usage statistics, upload citation styles, import filters, online search connection settings. Since he can customize styles, filters and connections within En desktop, customization of importing, formatting output (citations, lists, manuscript) and online searching is possible in EW only via the action of the Administrato(s).
    The administrator tools would still be accessible to an institution that does not have any access to other Thomson Reuters or WoK databases, i.e.: A site does not need to have WoK access in order to have an EndNote Web administrator

  • BFS = bibliography formatting software
  • BMS = bibliography management software

  • CSV = Comma separated value file format
  • CWYW "cite-while-you-write" (™Thomson Reuters): BMS installed within the word processor, acting as third party software searching and inserting citations directly from the final text document in and out the bibliographic database. It offers all the functions that let insert, alter, format in-text citations and the final references list

  • RT = reference, or document, or record type; a data entry form bearing certain fields and not others to fit the document characteristics
